Rená Cutlip-Mason is a nationally recognized immigration attorney with an active practice focused on representing individuals fleeing human rights abuses. She currently serves as a pro bono immigration attorney at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP, where she helps manage the firm’s pro bono immigration initiatives. Prior to joining Akin, Rená led the Humanitarian Affairs Division at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, Office of Policy & Strategy, within the Department of Homeland Security, where she played a key role in shaping policies, regulations, and guidance related to humanitarian immigration. She has also held several leadership roles at the Tahirih Justice Center, including serving as Chief of Programs, and previously worked as counsel to the director at the Executive Office for Immigration Review.
With more than 20 years of experience, Rená has developed and implemented immigration policies and strategies, managed complex legal programs, and advocated for clients across a broad range of immigration matters. She holds a J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law and a B.A. from Bucknell University.
