Scott became a Cleveland Police Officer in 1996 and was originally assigned to the 1st District. He transferred to the 4th District where he worked on the fast response car responding only to high priority assignments in the most criminally active area of the city.  Scott eventually transferred back to the 1st District where he was assigned to a special car targeting the high drug area of that district.

Scott was then assigned to the 1st District Vice Unit where he began his active role in undercover drug operations. He spent almost 3 years in the Vice Unit before being assigned to the city wide Narcotics Unit in 2005. In the Narcotics Unit, Scott worked major cases targeting high level drug dealers and served on several task forces. During this, he continued to do extensive undercover work with both local drug dealers as well as serving in an undercover capacity with Mexican Cartel members and Jamaican drug trafficking organizations.

In 2013, Scott started working heroin overdose cases. He has responded to over 900 fatal overdoses successfully prosecuting dealers. During the course of his career, he has arrested 1000’s for various drug law violations. He has been the affiant in nearly 1000 search warrants. In all the cases he has presented for prosecution, he has never lost a case. He has also been awarded several awards including the Cleveland Police Medal of Honor and Distinguished Service award.

In 2015, Scott began speaking on Opioid panels throughout the state of Ohio. This led to him becoming a faculty member for NAGTRI, The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute. As a member of the faculty, he has traveled the country giving presentations to other police departments for Heroin Overdose and prosecution cases. He also gives presentations for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner’s office concerning heroin Overdose prosecutions as well as for OTOA, Ohio Tactical Officers Association regarding the same subject matter.

In February 2015, Scott completed the OPOTA (Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy) Instructor course and was an instructor for the Cleveland Police Department presenting classes regarding drug awareness to the new recruits for the department. He also served as a Crisis Negotiator for the Cleveland Police Department. He retired from the Cleveland Police Department in 2021 after 25 years of service.

In October 2021, Scott was hired as a Special Investigator of the Cuyahoga County Prosecutors Office and assigned to the Cuyahoga Regional Human Trafficking Task Force. On the Cuyahoga County Human Trafficking Task Force, he recently conducted a nearly year-long investigation into several illicit massage businesses (IMBs) in Northeast Ohio resulting in 9 search warrants and seizing/freezing nearly 400K in currency. As a result of this case, he is now consulting with other agencies and is the lead investigator for the task force for cases involving IMBs.
